bien vivre

Bien vivre - Live well!

¨Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es." [Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are].  This phrase was penned in 1826 by French writer, Anthelme Brillat-Savarin and is as relevant today. That being said, I don’t think there is any need to deprive oneself of the enjoyment of eating well providing one is mindful of quality and of course quantity - no overindulging which, I am finding, is too temptingly easy to do here in France!

The markets all over the Auvergne are an experience not to be missed.  You will be able to find a local market almost every day of the week and they will provide you with the freshest of products direct from surrounding farms and producers.  The prices may admittedly be more expensive than the supermarkets but definitely worth it for your health and the enjoyment of shopping.

The four departments of the Auvergne, Allier, Cantal, Puy de Dôme and Haute Loire, not only provide the visitor with a staggering diversity of scenery but also an abundance of adventures with a wide range of activities to be enjoyed, including safe hiking, cycling, quad biking trails, golf, fishing, skiing, kayaking and white-water river rafting, horse riding, theme and wild animal parks, and of course many local festivals and festivities throughout the year.
